For those who are new to us, we moved to Pittsburgh in July and one of the main reasons was to be closer to both of our families. Elizabeth is from Ohio, and her family still lives there. One of our kids favorite activities is travel there to play with their cousins. With six acres of land, a pool and a playground, what isn’t to like? This was from last summer, during one of our visits.

Story Within A Story | The Cake Cutting!

Ahhh….Stephen & Stephanie! I think it’s pretty obvious from this photograph that they were a fun couple! Generally, at the cake cutting, the bride and groom gently feed their new spouse a small piece of their wedding cake and everyone cheers. Sometimes, an unsuspecting (or even suspecting!) new spouse gets a face full of frosting to start off their reception. Rarely, though, does a groom scoop a chunk of cake and frosting and down it before his wife gets a chance to try the cake! It was hilarious, had the crowd rolling and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Elizabeth and I traveled back to Indiana to document the wonderful wedding of Jennifer and Mark at St. Peter & Paul Church in Haubstadt and their reception at Kirby’s private Dining in Evansville. We hit it off with Jennifer from the first contact we had, being that Elizabeth, Jennifer and I each graduated from Ohio University in Athens. It was a wonderful day, here is their wedding story!

July 31st Cathy & Brandon The Hayloft, Rockwood, PA

Cathy and Brandon were married at The Hayloft in Rockwood, Pennsylvania during a beautiful outdoor ceremony under an island gazebo, where a bridge accesses the bridal party to the gazebo. Jennifer and Justin were married in Ridgway, Illinois at St. Joseph Catholic Church and the reception at the K.C. Hall. After photographing more than 150 weddings, we were introduced to a Ridgway tradition that we had never seen before- the groom taking the bride for a ride around the block in a wheelbarrow! We seriously get to work with the coolest couples! Kelli and Steve were so laid back and easy to work with. They live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Kelli is the education reporter for KELO-TV.
The ceremony, held at Salem Church in Darmstadt, had guests in the balcony wiping away tears (check out the photos below) followed by a non-stop party at one of our favorite reception venues, The Cambridge Golf Club. We are thrilled to have at least three other receptions to photograph at Cambridge this year, but even more thrilled that Kelli and Steve chose us to document their day.
