Our 2012 wedding season kicks off in four days, so we felt this would be the perfect time to look back on our favorite photographs from 2011. Every day up to March 31st we will post a “Best of” category counting down our favorites from each. We kick things off with our favorite photographs of the guys getting ready from 2011!

Kelly & Adam | Crossroads Christian Church | Cambridge Golf Club

Kelly and Adam were married at Crossroads Christian Church in Evansville, Indiana and their reception was held at the Cambridge Golf Club. They are such a great couple, it was evident from the moment they first saw each other that day because neither could not stop smiling at the other for the entire day and night!
Another part that was fantastic was the amount of kids that were at the wedding. Having two little ones of our own, it is hard to not photographs kids being kids at weddings. In fact, early in our wedding career, Elizabeth told me to slow down on the kids images because I had a tendency to overshoot them just a tiny bit. So the reception was a huge, rocking party full of dancing, laughter and tons of love. And I was thrilled to be a part of it. It was also a little bittersweet for us, since this is the last wedding that we had on the books in Evansville, where we lived for ten years before moving to Pittsburgh last year. So here it is, Kelly and Adam’s wedding story!

Only two more to go in our “Best of” series. As a tribute to all of our clients, we have been honoring them with our favorite photographs and moments from their weddings in 2010. A Story Within A Story

Meet Jared. Jared married Kailyn on a rather warm May afternoon, which was a bit warmer than he expected. So he knew, even before he walked outside, that he was going to sweat a bunch. He and the groomsman even were equipped with hand held battery controlled fans that turned out to be no match for the heat. So minutes into their ceremony, sweat was dripping on his face but it wasn’t noticeable to most in the crowd. It was noticeable, though, to the pastor who was performing the service. Without missing a beat and with perfect timing, he reached out with a tissue to wipe off Jared’s face to the extreme amusement of his soon to be wife as well as all of their guests!

A Story Within A Story | The Groomsman Celebration

Groomsmen that are thoughtful and funny are simply the best kind of groomsmen. Take the guys from Chelsea and Jerod’s wedding for example. They had it all planned out but I’m not sure if anyone else know about it. I was with the guys all morning and hadn’t heard anyone mention it. But when Chelsea and Jerod finished their wedding ceremony with a kiss, the guys busted out the noisemakers on cue to celebrate with the happy couple in their own special way!

Story Within A Story – Lindsay and Mark -Nerves at the Altar!

Lindsay and Mark! This was one of the classic moments that we have had during a wedding ceremony. Just as a little background, Lindsay was cool as a cucumber leading up to the wedding. No issues. Come July 5th, 2008, her nerves started to set in just a littttttttle bit. Not in a bad way at all, she was still so much fun to be around but you could tell the enormity of everything was on her mind. So when she got up on the altar for the ceremony, she pretty much stole the show. Initially (If my memory serves me right), she stopped the ceremony briefly to have to spotlights turned down because it was so warm on the altar. And it is hot up there, a few months later a bridesmaid lost it for a moment at the same church because of the heat from the lights. The photograph below was a minute of two later. The pastor let everyone know that he doesn’t do many weddings and how nervous he AND Lindsay are! I don’t remember the quote exactly, but he informed everyone at the wedding to not be surprised if either of them wouldn’t make it to the end of the ceremony. The uproar of genuine laughter completely loosened everyone up and they went on to have a fantastic ceremony. And the best part is that Elizabeth and I am photographing Lindsay’s friend Jessica’s wedding today and we get to have a wedding reunion! We can’t wait to see everyone again!

A Story Within A Story | The Reception Peek

Brianna and Tim were so cute. They were quiet, unassuming yet so much fun. They were so aware of what was going on in the moment, they had to take a mental snapshot. So a few minutes before they were to be introduced at their wedding reception, they had to see what everything looked like inside of the party. So doing their best to be inconspicuous, they each peeked their heads around the corner at Cambridge Golf Club for a split second and this wonderful image of their partially hidden but completely curious faces was captured.

I traveled back to Evansville just in time for the heat wave to break, giving Beth and Brandon a beautiful day to get married. Their ceremony was held at St. Benedict’s Cathedral and we then headed over to Cambridge Golf Club for their awesome reception. D.J. Dave Kennedy couldn’t have done a more fantastic job, the reception began around 4 p.m. and the dance floor was packed until the very end. Congratulations to Beth and Brandon, we hope you had the greatest honeymoon in Europe!
